Development of in-field sensors for animal welfare monitoring and compliance assessment

Animal welfare is important both for ensuring the animal is not put under stress in the farm or at any stage of the supply chain.  From a meat industry perspective, stressed animals also lead to lowered quality of product.

This project will look at developing rapid, smart sensors for monitoring animal welfare.  This is an industry-linked project with 70% electroanalytical chemistry and 30% agriculture research areas.

This project will suit a student with analytical chemistry, chemistry/biology and chemistry/agriculture background.  Organic chemistry background will also be an advantage.
